Following the January seizure of undocumented sacks of Rice near Zamboanga Sibugay, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. strongly suggested to have the smuggled rice apportioned to the poor.

“That's probably something that we will be discussing to the next Cabinet meeting in March,” Roque said in an interview with radio dzMM. “You know that policy is too long, and it is not like (smuggled) cars that are being destroyed for a lesson,” Roque said. “This is really, because it is food, it may be necessary for those who are hungry, for our people." Roque added. It was estimated to have been 60,000 unidentified sacks of rice amounting to Php 120 Million that was confiscated by the Philippine Coast Guard which was about to endorse initially to the National Food Authority (NFA) for resale, as proposed by Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food Chairperson, Senator Cynthia Villar.

In my India, even when the SUPREME COURT ordered, the govt was not ready to give rotting grains to the poor...they wanted to make BEER out of it!
The poor need it more. ALL SHOULD UNITE ON THIS.
Give ot to the poor. But it's not enough. So you have to identify as to what level of poverty the rice be given.
ReplyDeleteFEED THE POOR, Sana lang makarating sa mga tunay na kapos at sa higit na nangangailangan. Kahit anong tino ng namumuno kung ang mga galamay nito`y supang hindi tayo aasenso. Maawa naman sila sa mga dukha!
ReplyDeleteRice is a perishable commodity. So, it should be distributed the soonest possible time while its quality is still good for human consumption. It should be given as relief goods to Provinces and priority to those devastated by super-typhoons and landslides. Then, to other Provinces and areas where food is scarce and really needed.
